Introduction:

In the era in which we live, the era of technology, technique, and innovation, technology has become invaluable for use in organizations. Most organizations have fully understood this, as the use of information technology accelerates daily tasks and allows users to benefit from numerous conveniences. Universities also provide better, faster, more accurate, and higher-quality services through the use of technology. Therefore, the Information Technology Department of Kabul Polytechnic University has always strived to maximize the use of modern technology to facilitate service delivery within the university. This department was established in 2004 within the structure of the Academic Vice-Rectorate as the Information Technology Center (ITCKPU).

Goals:

The systematic development of effective programs, control, and supervision of technical and technological matters related to hardware, software, and network servers, the creation and provision of necessary information technology facilities and resources in accordance with national and international standards across Kabul Polytechnic University.

Vision:

The Information Technology Department is committed to its leadership role in advancing the national goals and strategies of Kabul Polytechnic University through the selection of effective and efficient methods in the field of technological advancement and innovation.

Services:

  • Providing internet services to faculty, staff, and students of the university.
  • Recording and editing of professors' instructional video clips in the university studio.
  • Control, monitoring, installation, and inspection of security cameras across the university.
  • Resolving software issues related to the technological devices of faculty, staff, and students of the university.
  • Resolving hardware issues of technological equipment across all university departments.
  • Creating official email addresses for faculty and staff using the university's domain (kpu.edu.af).
  • Publishing news, announcements, seminars, faculty biographies, and all other necessary matters on the university website.
  • Advancement of HEMIS system affairs at the university.
  • Control of the dormitory biometric system, which includes access control, real-time monitoring, and attendance tracking.
  • Provision of educational services for university students in classrooms and computer laboratories of the Information Technology Department.
  • Provision of internal and external communication services for university staff through the PBX system and IMS system.


Activities:

Activities carried out in the year 1402 AHS:

  • The memorandum of understanding was signed between Kabul Polytechnic University and Afghan Telecom Company (Afghan Telecommunications Corporation) to activate the IMS system for external calls using GRANDSTREAM devices and its distribution to designated departments across the university.
  • Establishment of video conferencing rooms at the Information Technology Center.
