Brief Introduction of Building Construction Management Department and Master’s Program of Construction and Engineering Management
Master’s program in Construction Engineering and Management is one of the internationally recognized fields, considered crucial for the country to implement infrastructure projects that require substantial investment and resource management. Therefore, Kabul Polytechnic University, as a leading academic institution in this field, established this program.
The Master’s program in Construction Engineering and Management was first launched in the year 1400 Hijri Shamsi (2021–2022) based on a needs assessment and the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education, within the Department of Building Construction Management, Faculty of Construction, Kabul Polytechnic University. In 1402 Hijri Shamsi (2023–2024), the first cohort of graduates successfully defended their master’s theses and published a research article in one of the nationally and internationally recognized journals.
This program admits eligible candidates through an open competitive process conducted annually by the National Examination Directorate. The program is completed over two to three years, and students must complete 46 credits over four semesters, including coursework, seminars, and a master’s thesis.
During the first three semesters, students are required to complete the credit hours for their courses. In the fourth semester, after submitting a proposal, they continue with their research work. According to the curriculum, students must publish a scientific article in a accredited journal before their thesis defense.
The physical resources of this program include a well-equipped construction materials laboratory, standard classrooms, administrative offices, open spaces, living facilities, and a computer lab.
