Information Systems Department

The Information Technology (IS) department was founded in year 1387. IT department is a committed and vibrant teaching and research center with its focus strongly on educating best possible IT expert to the Afghan community. We prepare students by offering internationally collaborated and standard curriculum in areas of enterprise computing, distributed computing, information systems, web-based application and mobile application development. Our students has access to specially designed labs to enhance student learning and facilitate industry collaboration. Since its foundation, our faculty has graduated more than 100 students in five terms and currently 191 students are busy in completing their bachelor program. Our faculty members has got their master degrees from the internationally recognized universities, such as Brighton University (UK) and Technical University of Berlin (DE) and are currently conducting research in fields of distributed computing, E-Governance and cyber security.

The Information Technology (IT) department is on the leading edge of this revolution and we believe in developing a community that confidently navigates this fascinating new world of information and technology, ultimately becoming a role model for other institutions.

Mission:

The Department of Information Technology (IT) supports the mission of the Kabul Polytechnic University by providing a high quality undergraduate education to students.

The mission of the IT Department is to provide a learning-centered environment that enables students, faculty, and staff to achieve their goals and to empower our students to compete on a global level for careers in government, industry, secondary education, and acceptance to graduate school.

The Department provides programs in information systems. The curricula are rich with opportunities for students to develop a sound understanding of fundamentals as well as specialized theories, practices, and ethics that enhance their learning.

Goals:

· Provide excellent programs in Information Technology and Computer Information systems.

· Prepare graduates for careers enabling them to compete on a global level in government, industry, secondary education, and graduate school acceptance.

· Engage in research and other scholarly activities that enhance, promote, and support degree programs, instructional activities, and intellectual and professional growth of students and faculty.

· Contribute to the body of knowledge in Information Technology and Computer Information systems.

· Provide an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, and the joy of learning.

· We focus on applying engineering practices, business principles and modern IT technologies to identify, analyze and solve problems within an organization and ease the workflow inside an organization.

· We focus on data management to enable efficient and secure storage, retrieval and usage of critical data.

· We focus on training students to develop useful applications for an organization, so that the organization benefits from the state-of-art technologies to expand its business.

· We also train our students in business management and E-Commerce areas. It enables them to use state-of-art technologies as a tool for solving challenging business problem and achieve business goal in order to compete with other companies in the market.
