6. Introduction to the Directorate of Master’s Programs
The Master’s Programs at Kabul Polytechnic University have been functioning within the academic framework of the university for more than eleven years and have played a significant role in educating specialized professional cadres for the country. These programs were established with the aim of enhancing academic capacity, strengthening technical skills, and providing opportunities for specialization in various engineering fields.
To date, approximately 400 graduates have completed their master’s degrees in the following disciplines:
- Hydro-technical and Hydraulic Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Geological Engineering and Mineral Exploration
Graduates of these programs are currently serving in government institutions, the private sector, construction companies, national projects, higher education institutions, and other professional organizations.
In the initial years, the Master’s Programs were managed under the supervision of the Vice-Chancellorship for Academic Affairs and the Master’s Board. However, with the expansion of the programs, an independent Directorate of Master’s Programs was formally established.
According to Official Letter No. (72), dated 1/2/1400, Associate Professor Fazalrahman Ekhlas was appointed as the first Director of Master’s Programs and rendered valuable academic and administrative services during his tenure.
Subsequently, on 1/1/1446 Hijri Qamari, Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Alem Wardak, a faculty member of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, was officially appointed and introduced as the Director of Master’s Programs at Kabul Polytechnic University.
Kabul Polytechnic University has consistently strived to manage and expand its master’s programs in accordance with academic standards, national priorities, and international benchmarks.
As one of the most reputable higher education institutions in the country, Kabul Polytechnic University has organized and implemented its master’s and doctoral programs over the past decade in various engineering fields based on academic norms and national needs. The primary goal of these programs is to educate highly qualified specialists, enhance scientific capacity, strengthen professional competencies, and facilitate advanced research at the national and international levels.

7. Objectives
- Effective and responsible management of assigned duties within the strategic plan of the university under the guidance of university leadership and the Academic Vice-Chancellor.
- Enhancing the academic and administrative quality of master’s programs in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Establishing and maintaining coordination among all relevant departments of master’s programs within the university and the Ministry of Higher Education.
- Addressing administrative affairs related to students, faculty members, and staff of the master’s programs under the supervision of the Academic Vice-Chancellor.
8. Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitoring and evaluating the academic and administrative affairs of the master’s programs.
- Executing administrative tasks, including official correspondence, proposals, and documentation.
- Participating in meetings of the Master’s Board as a member and secretary.
- Recording and distributing the decisions of the Master’s Board to the relevant departments.
- Coordinating and organizing administrative matters of the master’s program management units.
- Consolidating and signing monthly honorarium reports of faculty members and staff, and submitting them to the relevant authorities.
- Processing requests and applications submitted by stakeholders in accordance with established procedures.
- Facilitating coordination with the Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation of Master’s Programs at the Ministry of Higher Education.
- Participating in the meetings of the Master’s Commission of the Ministry of Higher Education.
